Conservation Legacy is proud to announce its role as a Programming Partner of America250, the official commemoration of the United States’ 250th anniversary. A Commitment to Volunteerism
-
9/11 Day of Service
On the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Southeast Conservation Corps (a program of Conservation Legacy) staff and our Urban Forestry Crew spent the day volunteering at the Harrison Bay State Park Day Use Area. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) originally helped develop the park in the 1930s and 40s, building its initial visitor facilities like picnic areas, boat docks and roads which shaped the park's landscape and features that are still enjoyed today.
-
MLK Day of Service
“Everyone can be great because everyone can serve,” said the late, great Martin Luther King Junior. Staff and members from our corps volunteer their time each year to support their local communities. Together we can make the greatest impact in our communities and on those that need it the most.
-
National Trails Day
From trail maintenance and construction to invasive species removal, sign installation, erosion mitigation control and more, our crews and Individual Placements volunteer their time to improve trails for National Trails Day and beyond.
Service is at the Heart of our Programs
Community Volunteer Ambassadors Program
Community Volunteer Ambassadors are a group of young adults, brought together through a partnership between the National Park Service and the Stewards Individual Placement Program to lend their talents, energy, and enthusiasm to help strengthen the relationship between parks and local communities. CVA's are typically recent high school and college graduates who serve year-long terms in National Parks across the country. CVA's work to expand volunteer opportunities and connection points for community members.
Historic Preservation Training Center
Historic Preservation Training Center (HPTC) completes technical preservation projects on historic structures within the NPS system. Interns with HPTC can expect to get hands-on experience and training in preservation trades and building crafts by industry leaders.
Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps
By engaging Indigenous youth and young adults in conservation service programs, we work to reconnect participants to the land, their cultural heritage, and their traditions. Our committed staff works to remove barriers to participation, education, and employment by partnering with local community organizations, agencies, and institutes of higher learning to create paid service and career training opportunities, personal and professional development, and pathways to postsecondary education and employment.
